Jim Boeheim is Not Bob Knight or Coach K

And he's an asshole
Last night, longtime Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim won his 900th career game, becoming only the third division one coach to have done so, and the first to have done so at the same school. Certainly a remarkable record of on court success, but even so, Boeheim sold his soul a long time ago, running a program where only serious actions are arbitrarily punished, and academic success is not a priority. For this purpose, I do not care about NCAA violations, because those do not judge the morality or mental fitness of the athlete necessary to attend college.

Casual Hoya, one of the best (and funniest) college blogs on the internet has compiled a list of crimes in the Syracuse basketball program during Boeheim's tenure, and they are numerous. From Eric Devendorf allegedly punching a girl, having Syracuse teammates contact her, and saying her credibility is in question, to willful inaction on positive drug tests, to Michael Carter-Williams' shoplifting incident this past week, Boeheim has a history of handling internal matters in a way that allows him to accrue wins, while possibly endangering students on the Syracuse campus by keeping several reprobates on his time at a time.

But nobody (other than the Secretary of Education) cares how many Syracuse players commit crimes or fail to graduate because he wins ballgames.
