Syracuse Headed For an NCAA Tournament Ban?

Fab Melo in Court (because I can)

Yesterday's game between Syracuse and Villanova featured the conspicuous absence of forward James Southerland, one of the best players for the Orange. Syracuse cited Federal privacy laws to keep silent about the reasoning, but CBS Sports reported that it is in fact an academic issue. Academic issues are nothing new for Syracuse, as Fab Melo, now of the Celtics was suspended and ultimately dismissed last year after getting into multiple academic SNAFUs.

If Southerland is somehow unable to get his grades in check, this could be a big problem for Syracuse as they are right on the cusp of being ineligible for a future NCAA Tournament, following the example of UConn this year.

This is what happens when you have a coach with a long track record of not holding his players accountable for their actions.
