Villanova Beats USF 61-53*

Led by the best game of the season by senior forward Mouphtaou Yarou, one where he finished in double figures in both scoring and rebounding with 16 and 14 respectively, Villanova beat USF tonight after controlling the game virtually the entire way. Also notable was the first career start of Daniel Ochefu, something that I called for last week. Ochefu did not disappoint, finishing in double figures in points with 12, showing a knack for scoring interior points, and very nearly finishing in double figures in rebounds with eight. Rounding out the Villanova players in double figures was JayVaughn Pinkston, who finished with 15 points. Ryan Arcidiacono didn't match his performance from last game, finishing with only points, but most importantly, he took care of the basketball, turning the ball over only once, in the waning moments of the game.

This is a big win, because while USF is not a very good team, Villanova capitalized on their opportunities and actually played defense. In this new season, Villanova is 2-0.

*USF scored on a heave at the end of the game, depriving Villanova of a double-digit win.
