On paper, this is the most lopsided home matchup for a Villanova team in quite some time. By any objective measure, Louisville is a top five team, and even worse for Villanova, they're one of the two or three best offensive teams in the nation, as is so characteristic of a team coached by Rick Pitino. Another thing that doesn't bode well for Villanova is the fact that the Cardinals are coming off a pretty painful loss this Saturday at Syracuse, so they've probably been getting screamed at in practice.
So what must Villanova do to win? A lot. In no particular order, they need to slow down Russ Smith, protect the ball, establish the outside shot, limit Louisville's points off of turnovers, force turnovers, score points off of turnovers, and hope to get some luck. Even then, it might not be enough, because this Louisville team is National Championship good, and Villanova is very far from that.
