Big Game Darrun: Villanova Beats Marquette

If I were to submit to subjective emotion, I would say that Darrun Hilliard has shown himself to be a big game player, but doing so would be an insult to just how good he has been lately. Tonight, Darrun had another huge game, leading all comers with 22 points as Villanova beat 17th ranked Marquette 60-56, covering the spread in the process.

Also in double figures for Villanova were Ryan Arcidiacono with 11, who had his second straight game with zero turnovers, Mouphtaou Yarou who added 10 in what very well may be his final game in the Pavilion, and JayVaughn Pinkston, who scored 11. In something that will come as a bit of a shock, Villanova had EIGHT fewer turnovers than the Golden Eagles, and Jordan Cadougan, the leading Marquette scorer scored only 12 points. Also notable: Daniel Ochefu made his only two free throw attempts.

This is a huge win for our 'Cats. Two more wins and they're in the NCAA Tournament just a year after one of the worst seasons in program history.

Beat Seton Hall.
