UConn is currently serving a one year postseason ban for allowing their basketball players to go through college without reading a single book cover to cover and other various other academic infractions, but have still been playing with purpose this season, currently sitting at 17-6 with their win over Syracuse earlier this week at . To beat UConn, you'd probably be smart to try to shut down their two best players, Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright. Napier, a 6'1 junior guard is the only remaining significant contributor from UConn's improbable 2011 National Championship run and Boatright, a 6'0 sophomore, was one of the best rookies in the Big East last year. Both of these guards are vastly more talented than any guard on the Villanova roster. Oh yeah, you might also remember Shabazz Napier from this punch in the dick, one of the low points of a very low 2011-2012 Villanova season.
This game comes during the same week as one of the signature wins of the Jay Wright era, where Villanova beat #1 UConn in the Wachovia Center, and also two days before the 18th anniversary of the signature win of the Steve Lappas era, a win against a #1 UConn team in Storrs. Like those other two games, this one is reasonably evenly matched, but it is a road game against a UConn team that seems to have a chip on its shoulder. Unlike last game, this is a must win, and believe it or not, it is winnable, but as is usually the case, that's only possible if Villanova generates some offense.
